GIRLS SWIM TEAM MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The Lutheran South girls swim team has partnered for the second year with Christian Friends of New Americans (CFNA) to provide free swim lessons to refugee children in St. Louis. The initiative was inspired by the passing of Henry Manu, a Lutheran South student who died in a drowning incident two years ago. Henry, an immigrant from Liberia, was supported by CFNA when his family moved to the United States.

The goal of the program is to teach basic life-saving skills, such as how to float and how to tread water. The 4-week program takes place on Saturdays at Affton High School. The first session, held on Saturday, February 20, had 56 kids in attendance!
