The current news and alumni updates from Lutheran South
February 2021
The Tradition Continues
The Sem Games were created in 1960 as a day of basketball between Lutheran North and Lutheran South. For many years, the games were played in the field house at Concordia Seminary, which was the home court of the original Lutheran High School. Over the past decade, the Sem Games have been held at both schools and at various college campuses. This year's games will be held at Lutheran South, however, a limited number of spectators are permitted.
Join us virtually for the Sem Games Saturday, February 6. We cannot have an extended group of fans at the games this year, but you will be able to cheer on the Lancers and watch the games live.
We rely on the generosity of alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends to meet our financial goals. Thank you for considering Lutheran South in your charitable giving.
Future Lancers We’d love to send you a onesie and brag about your new addition on social media! Send info to lreis@LSlancers.org.Pictured is Jimmy Hudson's (LS '12) daughter, Finley.
Lancers Return Last month we welcomed ChrisShearman (LS '01) and Jared Irby (LN '07) with the Lutheran Development Group. This group creates affordable housing for low-income families in St. Louis City. Chris and Jarred spoke about the history of housing disparity in St. Louis. We're proud of how our alumni have positively impacted the housing situation in St. Louis City and how passionate they are about providing adequate housing to low-income families.
LEAD at LS LuSo's newest club, Lancers for Equality and Diversity (LEAD) has been developed as a way for our students to come together in an effort to learn about and celebrate the power of diversity, equality, and inclusion, not only at school but in all areas of their lives. Students meet monthly to discuss modern topics of diversity and equality and also to plan student-led activities and events with the goal of creating a school-wide sense of belonging and appreciation for all students. The club is looking for alumni to feature for Black History Month. Please email lreis@LSlancers.org if you are interested or know of someone who might be.
Winning on Wheel of Fortune Grace Mohs (LS '13) competed on Wheel of Fortune last month, winning $37,498 in cash and prizes, including a trip to St. Marten! Grace works as an executive assistant in Los Angeles and in her spare time enjoys creating digital artwork. She said being selected as a contestant was the highlight of her year. “I thought the whole process was just really fun, to get a little taste of what playing Wheel of Fortune could actually be like." She hopes to use some of her prize money on a future trip to Japan.
We're Hiring! We are looking for a throws coach to join our track and field coaching staff for the 2021 season. Apply today >> http://ow.ly/84CA50DeuZ7.
