LHSS Welcomes New Head Football Coach

Congratulations to Derrick Colquitt, LHSS head football coach!

Colquitt will continue to support the Lancer family in this new role after leading Lancer offense last year to a state Final Four appearance.

As a Graduate of University City High School (2000) and Lindenwood University (2004) where he played football for three years, Colquitt has the experience and grit to move LHSS forward.

“I am so elated to return to Lutheran High School South for my second year.

South welcomed my family and myself with open arms.

The last two years has shown what hard work, great student-athletes, and motivated coaches can accomplish on and off the field.  The young men deserve consistency and a great deal of love, and that is what I am looking forward to the most.

Xs and Os are of little importance when it comes to football.  I believe in teaching the young men about MANHOOD, SCHOLARSHIP, PERSEVERANCE, and UPLIFT.  These pillars for the program will build a strong brotherhood and carry us a long way for the future.”

Colquitt received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Lindenwood (2004) and his Teaching Certification from Harris Stowe State University (2016).

Prior to joining LHSS, he held various assistant coaching responsibilities at Normandy HS, McCluer North HS, Chaminade, Washington University, and University City HS.

Colquitt lives in St. Louis with his wife Deitra and three children, Khloe, Demi, and Derrick III.
